Life Coach (Agency with Choice)

Location: Danvers, MA

Foster personal and professional growth in individuals with disabilities as our new Life Coach in our Guided Personal Support Program!

The Guided Personal Support (GPS) Program is made up of a combination of SSQUAL contracts (Enhanced Family Support for Adults) from the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS) that focus on preparing individuals on acquiring skills in different aspects of their lives to be more independent and live their best life. All of the referrals in this program come from DDS.

Agency with Choice offers the option to partner with an Agency (Northeast Arc). Individuals who choose this support model will have a budget allocation for the purchase of services to meet their needs. The participant/family is able to identify the people they wish to employ with the support of an agency to assist in the hiring process, payroll management, and other related tasks. The participant/family has responsibility for daily supervision of employees. The agency assumes responsibility for paying employees, including withholding, filing, and paying federal and state income and employment taxes, as well as providing a worker’s compensation policy.

Job Summary: The Life Coach supports individuals to meet their personal goals and operates independently with an individual and in the community.

Job Type: Per diem (about 2 hours a week), in-home and community based environments

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provides individualized supports to clients for the purpose of fostering community inclusion, community building and independence.
  • Assists client with goal development (long and short term goals) and strategies for success.
  • Assists the individual to interpret and respond appropriately to social cues and other situations encountered in the community milieu.
  • Teaches specific skills and behaviors, such as executive functioning skills, appropriate relational boundaries, in accordance with the goals, objectives and strategies identified in the individual’s plan.
  • Creates a schedule of appointments and meetings, as determined by the LifePlan/ISP and contract, with the individual that focus on the outlined goals.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Psychology (or closely related field), or registered as Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker by the Board of Registration of Social Workers, or be a Licensed Counselor with at least a Master's degree in Counseling or related field and be licensed by the appropriate Board of Registration
  • Education requirement may be substituted with a Bachelor's degree in a related field AND 5 years experience with individuals with serious mental health issues and autism, as well as demonstrable working knowledge and background in developmental disabilities.
